This half day course is designed to give younger students (12 to 16 years) a taste of what it is like to hit hot steel.

The course introduces some basic skills used by blacksmiths to make smaller projects such as hooks, dice, flint strikers etc. We will cover:

• basic blacksmithing techniques

• correct hammer technique

• workshop safety

• tools of the trade

With a maximum of two students per session, the students are given opportunity for detailed instruction, to ask questions and fully take in the experience.

The half-day course runs from 8am to 12pm (unless other arrangements are made). Light refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to bring some snacks for an energy boost.
